History

In 2005, E.L. Wright fielded its first soccer teams. In what was billed as a season of firsts, the Boys opened up that season with the first win in school history with a 9-0 victory over Dent Middle School. That victory led the Warriors to the first ever District Soccer Championship. The first goal ever scored was by Steven Verdugo as Jamal Olden provided the first assist. Jason Jakiela recorded the first shutout. Jamal would finish the season as the leading scorer with Steven in 2nd but both would flip their rankings in goals scored. The final record was 6-2.

Jennifer Chandler would coach the girls in an unsuccessful season going 0-8.

2006 would prove to be more of the same for the boys as they would have another successful season going 6-1-1. Steven Verdugo would finish his 2 years as the leader in assists and goals scored. Kevin Knapp would tend the goal while Graham Hoynes anchored the defense that helped shut down opponents.  A season ending loss at Kelly Mill kept the Warriors from being the first team to go undefeated in the district.

Ruth Russell would coach the girls through an improved season going 3-5, including a 5-0 shut out at Kelly Mill to end the season.

2007 would be another record breaking season as Nick Aizcorbe would set the season and career scoring marks. Nick also moved into goal the final half of the season to help boost the team. The season started off with the teams first ever scrimmage facing off against Ben Lippen JV. The boys held their own against the bigger boys trailing 4-3 at half and losing 5-3. The warriors then opened the season losing 4 straight. The boys regrouped at half time of their first match at Blythewood and set the tone for the rest of the season going 3-1 over the last half to finish 3rd in the district.

Amy Cammisa came in to take over the Lady Warriors and lead them to a tie for first with Summit after splitting the regular season. The ladies finished with a season mark of 7-1.

The Warriors returned to their winning ways in 2008. The team hosted the first ever Warrior Inviational. The boys opened up with a 1-0 loss to Summit but then won the remaining games against White Knoll and Brookland Cayce to play Summit for the Championship, wining that match up 2-1.They then welcomed Longleaf to the district with an 11-0 victory, breaking the old scoring record of 9-0 that was set against Dent the inaugural season. The boys would go on to a 10-1 season losing only to Summit in the district and defeating Dreher out of District. The season was concluded at the Irmo JV tournament. The team lost to tournament champion Hammond 3-0 but defeated Mid Carolina and fought back to tie Barnwell as time expired.
