Thanks to the following Sponsors of the 2008 Warrior Invitational State Junior Scholars Derek Knapp and Chris Clymer both will be presented with the State Junior Scholar Award at the Richland District 2 Auditorium Monday March 10. Congratulations to both athletes as the continue to prove that student does come first in Student-Athlete. GAME ON! Congratulations to the boys again for an outstanding victory over Longleaf yesterday. The boys set a new scoring record by winning 11-0. Se’Hoon Park led the way with 4 goals, Johnny Kim had 2, and Wesley Thompson, Hunter Hamilton, Ryan Siddall, Will Flanders, and Winston Donahue all added 1 goal each. Derek Knapp anchored a strong defensive effort that did not allow a shot on goal. Getting the shutout win in goal was Matt Wright. Irmo Preseason JV Tournament The Lady Warriors will travel back over to Irmo this weekend to participate in Irmo’s tournament. The ladies open with Ben Lippen Friday and then follow that up with Dreher and Eastside Saturday. Tournament information is available by clicking here. Champions The Warrior Invitational was won by the E. L. Wright soccer team. The team responded well after being shutout in the first game 1-0. The boys went on to defeat White Knoll by a 2-1 margin and Brookland Cayce 3-1. The Warriors finished up the tournament by defeating Summit in the Championship Game 2-1. Se’Hoon Park led the scoring with 2 goals. Johnny Kim, Patrick Johnson, and Wesley Thompson each added one goal. Winston Donahue was amazing in goal. In the consolation, Brookland-Cayce defeated White Knoll 2-1 in overtime. In their previous game, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. Than you to all of the volunteers, sponsors and parents that helped make the tournament a success Preseason Scrimmage CONGRATULATIONS to the Lady Warrior Soccer team. They traveled to Irmo for a preseason scrimmage and defeated Irmo 6-0. Morgan Garnett led the way with 4 goals including an awesome header off of a corner by Brittany Jakiela. Brittany also scored 2 goals off of corner kicks and had 2 other corners booted in by Morgan. Kristen Barber assisted on the other 2 goals. The defense only gave up 2 shots on goal. Congrats again and no practice till Monday! |
